Broadway of America

Summer Avenue, or U.S Highway 70, was the first highway to span the entire country.

It is not only home to the first Holiday Inn, first McDonald's and first Super D drug store, but it still has one of the last remaining drive-in movie theaters in this country today.

With 25,000 cars traversing Summer daily, its uniqueness, visibility and convenience make it a favorite destination, as well as, a viable artery in the bustling city of Memphis. Summer Avenue is home to Grahamwood Elementary, ranked in the top third primary schools in the country. Grahamwood Elementary is located in the sprawling mid century modern building at the busy corner of Summer and Graham and ranks in the top 15% of the most diverse schools in the nation!

Summer Avenue boasts a large variety of unique stores, restaurants and attractions. You'll find everything you need including antiques, outdoor living furniture, kitchen design, restaurant supplies, lampshades, hardware stores, educational products, hobby shops, beauty salons, cake decorating supplies, accountants, dentists, lawyers, contractors, wedding chapels, churches, and medical offices. We are proud to say that while we have wonderful national chains represented on Summer, we also have the city's largest community of locally-owned businesses!
